  What Are Boundaries?

The term boundaries can be used to describe a number of things such as a property line, a fence, or a line on a map. In this course we will be exploring personal boundaries, particularly as they relate to our work lives.

Wikipaedia defines personal boundaries as "guidelines, rules or limits that a person creates to identify reasonable, safe and permissible ways for other people to behave towards them and how they will respond when someone passes those limits."

The three most common areas of boundaries we encounter are mental - thoughts and opinions, physical - personal space and touch, and emotional - feelings. The term material boundaries relate to our belongings.
