In my experience (as a healthcare professional and as a professional supervisor) issues with boundaries tend to fall into four areas. Of course life isn’t so cut and dried and our lives don’t just fit boxes so there is a lot of overlap. To help with clarity I have divided this section into boundaries with clients, colleagues, employers and our self.
I invite you to work through this section in the way that best meets your needs at the moment. If you are experiencing a specific problem with boundaries in one area you may choose to work through that section first. Otherwise you can work through sequentially and absorb some of the ideas from each area. Remember a sign your boundaries might need improving in an area is a feeling of anger, resentment, overwhelm, obligation, violation or threat.
